Consultant Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon

I am a consultant spine surgeon in adult and paediatric spinal conditions. I specialise in keyhole approach (Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery - MIS) to minimise post-operative pain, reduce hospital stay and faster recovery.

I graduated in 1995 and completed my basic and higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedic in Yorkshire. I undertook my first post CCT spinal fellowship at the Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. My senior spinal fellowship was at AO Spine reference centre at University Hospital Wales in Cardiff. I undertook fellowship training at the prestigious Imperial College Healthcare London and gained further training in cutting edge latest spinal techniques in Belgium, Switzerland, France, Germany and the USA.

As a spine surgeon, I regularly perform microdiscectomy, spinal decompression, cervical and lumbar spinal fusions, vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty, spinal injections and management of osteoporotic spinal fractures. I perform over 100 spinal procedures a year on the NHS.

I am actively involved in developing and expanding spinal services at Lister Hospital. I am responsible for teaching higher surgical trainees for trauma and spinal surgery. My research interests are in the role of minimally invasive spinal surgery. I have published in peer reviewed scientific journals and have presented my research at numerous national and international conferences.
